The YMCA is the world pioneer in swimming instruction and water safety. For more than 100 years, local YMCAs have been the place Americans trust to find the most competent instructors of swimming and lifeguard training, so much so that the YMCA has been called "America's Favorite Swim Instructor." Today, tens of millions of people across the United States have learned how to swim at the YMCA, including Olympic medalists Mark Spitz, Greg Louganis and Janet Evans, as well as President Ronald Reagan.

The YMCA of Southern Arizona offers aquatic programs for all ages and abilities in a fun and safe environment.  In YMCA aquatics programs, children learn to be safe around water and get to feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with learning something new.  There is always something to keep you challenged and help you cool off from the Arizona heat at a YMCA pool in Southern Arizona.

YMCA aquatics staff are unrivaled in their training. Youth swim classes, lifeguard training, water fitness and competitive swim teams are among the most popular programs offered at our YMCA. We provide a unique progressive swim lesson system that includes various instruction levels for parent-child water lessons, preschool-age, and traditional school-age lessons. With enough dedication, our lessons will allow you or your child to progress from a non-swimmer all the way to competitive level swimming.

The Ott Family YMCA  has four pools and offers a variety of private and group swim lessons for infants through adults, competitive swim teams for 4 to 18 year olds and lifeguard training.  They also have a great diving board and waterslide for those times when you just want to come out and play!

For residents in central Tucson, the Lighthouse YMCA offers private lessons year round, in addition to group swim lessons for children and adults.  They have times for open swim, aqua aerobics and a youth swim team.

Located in the heart of downtown, the Lohse Family YMCA has the only partially indoor pool in our association.  This is a great pool for lap swimmers.  They also offer group and private swim lessons, swim teams and aqua aerobics.

The Northwest YMCA has a great pool for children, families and lap swimmers with lap and open swim times.  They also have a recreational water structure, a water slide and a zero depth pool. Swim lessons and swim teams are also available for those wanting to learn or compete.

Pool Safety Council Honor Roll

We are proud to announce that all the YMCA of Southern Arizona has received the Gold Seal of Approval and is on the Honor Roll of the Pool Safety Council. This seal of approval certifies that all pools within the YMCA of Southern Arizona are fully compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, which protects swimmers from entrapment accidents in the pool. For more information, visit the Pool Safety Council's website or contact Dave Molohon.
