Military Outreach

We provided access to health & well being resources and youth and family development services to over 270 Military Families, so that they spend quality time together and enjoy fun activities in a warm, supportive environment.

We understand that Military Families are under enormous strain. The Y is a place to meet other Military Families who can relate to your unique situation. The U.S. Department of Defense's Military Outreach Program provides services and programs through memberships and respite Child Care and is available for qualified Military personnel. We are proud to be assisting the families of the men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard, and Military Reservists.

Title 10 personnel are eligible for a Y membership, including:
  • Family members of deployed National Guard and Reservists
  • Active Duty Independent Duty personnel and their families
  • Relocated spouse/dependent children of deployed Active Duty personnel
Note: The Relocated Spouse category supports families/spouse who relocate away from an installation/duty station while the active duty service member is deployed. All of the following criteria must be met:
                   - The service member is on active duty.
                   - The service member is DEPLOYED for a minimum of six months
(on deployment orders—NOT unaccompanied orders, NOT geographic bachelors).
                   - The spouse has relocated away from the military installation where the service
member is assigned (most often, back home near family).

  • Fill out and bring your eligibility form, Military ID and any other required documentation (usually, your Deployment Orders or Military Service Headquarters approval letter) to a Y branch for verification.
  • Contact Charlie Buchanan for more information.

I am so thankful for the YMCA and this program to help Military Families. My husband used to watch my son so I could exercise. I can’t tell you how much it helps me to be able to come and exercise and know that my son is being taken care of in a safe and fun environment. It is a huge relief and I think it helps me to have energy and patience to take care of him while my husband is away. Sometimes it feels overwhelming to think about a year away from my husband (and taking care of my toddler alone!), but the support from the YMCA and the friendly faces I see every time I come are such a blessing.

Thanks for all you and the rest of the staff do to support us!
