What makes the YMCA different from other community organizations?
We are different because we teach by example the character traits of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We promote non-competitive youth programs where everyone plays and everyone is a winner!
Each YMCA is volunteer-founded, volunteer-led and volunteer-based. As such, each YMCA is a separate and independent 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Although born 158 years ago as the "Young Men's Christian Association," today half of all YMCA members are female and half are under the age of 18. The mission of the YMCA is based upon principles shared by all faiths and practiced each day in YMCAs across the United States and in 130 countries around the world.
Arizona YMCAs serve youth, families and individuals in the communities of Prescott, Flagstaff, Yuma, Tucson, and throughout the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix metropolitan area).
