School-Age Child Care

 Fun Factory

The Mulcahy/City YMCA Fun Factory is an after-school enrichment program that each year, serves more than 2,500 children in Kindergarten through 5th grades in the Sunnyside Unified School District. The program provides every child with the opportunity to choose from a variety of well-planned enrichment activities that meet the child's developmental needs and interests. Our goal is to make these times affordable, memorable, rewarding and fun for each child in a safe, caring environment.

Rather than roam the neighborhoods or go to homes without adult supervision, YMCA kids spend their out of school time in a familiar environment with their friends. In addition to snack time and homework and activity centers, specialist teach the children a variety of different skills that may include cooking, fine arts, languages, fitness and science. Some enrichment program examples include:

  • Educational Excellence- homework reading, literacy activities and health enhancement
  • Life Science Skills- cooking, science experiments, guest speakers
  • Creative Expression- songs, dance, drama, ceramics
  • Physical Development- team sports, group games, self defense, outdoor play
  • Recreational Pursuits- field trips, arts and crafts

The Mulcahy/City YMCA Fun Factory operates every day SUSD & GEA schools are in session. The on-site morning program opens at 6:00a.m. and the with the afternoon session operating from school dismissal to 6:00p.m. GEA site is open from 7a.m.-6:00p.m.  This schedule also includes early release days.
