Family Programs
The Lohse Family YMCA hopes that your family participates in EVERYTHING we have to offer. Building strong families is at the core of our vision. We want families to feel connected, involved, and supported. You can choose from family movie night, family swim, arts and crafts and coming soon family game night.
The Lohse Family YMCA currently hosts several family events:

Teens
The Lohse Family YMCA offers Youth hours for kids (8-15 years old) daily from 1-5 p.m. After 5 p.m. a parent must accompany any child under 15 years old. During the Youth Hours all youth are encouraged to use the gym pool, track and youth recreation room. Youth over the age of nine may also request a free orientation to use our youth strength training equipment, and kids ages 9-12 years old may request an orientation on the Cybex line.
Teens are especially encouraged to attend evening fitness classes, if accompanied by an adult.
YMCA Youth Sports
EVERYBODY PLAYS, EVERYBODY WINS!
In the YMCA's youth sports programs emphasis is on FUN, participation, skills, safety, teamwork, positive competition, fair play, and family involvement. All teams are organized on a neighborhood basis as much as possible. Teams practice once or twice a week. Each player will receive a t-shirt, quality coaching, and playing time in each game. The Y will provide game equipment. Equipment and rules are modified to accommodate the young athletes. Waiver forms must be signed for all participants. VOLUNTEER COACHES are used in ALL sports programs.
YOUTH SPORTS REGISTRATION FORM
Pee Wee Basketball
YMCA Pee Wee Basketball is designed for boys and girls ages 4-5. The fundamentals of basketball and the YMCA character values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility are stressed in this non-competitive game style program. Participants will take part in one hour skills clinic, followed by informal scrimmage every Saturday. Volunteer parent coaches will run skills clinic, character development and games.
Youth Basketball
The YMCA Youth Basketball program is designated for boys and girls ages 6-16. Volunteer coaches teach the fundamentals of basketball and the YMCA character values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Honesty in this positive-competitive league. Coed teams are divided by ages into divisions that will vary based on participation. Teams are organized by neighborhood or zip code in the central Tucson area and will practice once or twice a week with games on Saturdays. All practice sites, dates and times are determined by the volunteer coach according to the needs of the team.

Rookie League (Sat. Clinics NO GAMES)
Recreational league designed for learning. Progressive developmental league.
Age breakdown: PreK-K, 1st – 2nd, 3rd -4th, 5th-6th
Recreational Basketball League
Semi-Competitive League. Some altered rules. Some travel required.
Grade breakdown: 1st -2nd, 3rd -4th, 5th-6th, 7th -8th
Elite Basketball League
Advanced league. Some altered rules. Some travel required.
Age breakdown: 3rd- 4th, 5th- 6th, 7th -8th, 9th- 12th
All fees must be paid in full and all participants must have a jersey. If participant bought a jersey last year, they do not have to buy one this year. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE! Practices times and dates are at the coach’s discretion. Jersey's must be pre-ordered and will be given out to the partcipants by their coach.
Flag Football
Flag football will be played at Jacobs Park (Fairview & Miracle Mile) starting Oct. 4th, 2008. The age breakdown for this league is 8 and under, 11 and under, and 14 and under. This will be a 5 on 5 flag football league. The cost of the league is $35 for facility members and $55 for program members.
Itty Bitty Sports
This is a unique YMCA character values oriented program for children 3-4 years old. One hour sessions are held once a week for 9 weeks. The season includes 3 weeks of soccer, 2 weeks of basketball, and 3 weeks of T-Ball. Activities focus on motor skills development, teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. Classes are limited to 15 participants and parent participation is required.
Martial Arts (offered throughout the year)
The Lohse Family YMCA offers two separate and unique classes, which emphasize development of the whole person through martial arts.
Enshin Karate-is offered at the Jacob/City YMCA Program Center (located on Fairview between Miracle Mile and Prince) on Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m., or Saturdays from (Kids) 11:30-12:30 and (Adults) 12:30-1:30 p.m.
TaeKwondo is offered at the Lohse Family YMCA on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 7:00pm.
