Teams are organized by zip code as much as possible. All Practice sites, days and times are determined by the team's volunteer coach.

If sport is by grade group participants must register in the grade level they will be enrolled in for the 2008-2009 school year.

If sport is by age they must be of age group as of 1st game.

Youth Basketball

YMCA Youth Basketball is for all boys and girls in Pre-K-12 grades. The fundamentals of basketball and the character values of the YMCA are stressed in this league. Full uniform is required and must be worn at each game .  Uniforms including a full reversible jersey and shorts w/logo are a $25 additional fee.  Fees are $35 for Facility Members and $55 for Program Members.

*Register before the deadline and receive a youth basketball t-shirt (Available at your first home game)        

Leagues are as follows:

Rookie League - Rookie league that is designed for the beginning player.  This program focuses on recreation and skill development.  Clinics are held 8am on Saturdays at Desert Christian School.  This division is designed for players new to the sport and not ready for game play. The weekly clinics are ran by our volunteer coaches, and staff instructors and this is a non-competitive division. Teams are divided into the following groups:Pre-K - K, 1st - 2nd.

Recreational League - This league is designed for players with 4 or more seasons of experience.  Individuals from the rookie league that have improved their skill level can make the transition to the recreational league at the completion of the season. Some travel required in the Tucson area for practices and games. Teams are divided into the following groups: 1st - 2nd, 3rd - 4th, 5th - 6th, 7th-8th.

Elite League- This league is designed for advanced competition.  Teams and players in the elite league will consist of players from the recreational league league that have improved their skill level and are ready for unaltered AIA rules. Some travel required in the Tucson area for games and practices. Teams are divided into the following groups:3rd - 4th, 5th - 6th, 7th-8th,9th - 12th.

 

*The Sports Director has the right to move any team at anytime to a new league.

Soccer

YMCA Soccer is for all boys and girls ages 4-9. The fundamentals of soccer and the character values of the YMCA are stressed in this league. Coed teams are divided into the following groups: 4-6 years old, and 7-9 years old. There is a  maximum of 12 players per team. All games are played at the YMCA on Saturdays. Fees are $25 for Facility Members and $45 for Program Members.

Itty Bitty Sports

This 9-week program is a parent/child program for girls and boys ages 3-4. The fundamentals of basketball, soccer and tee ball are taught in 3 week segments. This instructor lead class is non-competitive and meets on Saturday mornings at 10am or 11am. Each hour session has a minimum of 5 participants and a maximum of 12.
*Parent/Guardian must be present and participate with child.* Fees are $25 for Facility Members and $45 for Program Members.

Tee Ball Clinic

This program is for boys and girls 4-6 years old and teaches the basic fundamentals of baseball. Designed to meet the developmental needs of children, this clinic involves 8 weeks of clinics.  Clinics designed to introduce and improve on the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, and hitting.  There are no games or practices just clinics held on Saturday mornings at the Ott YMCA at 8am. Fees are $25 for Facility Members and $45 for Program Members.

Volunteer coaches are needed to help lead the clinics.

Baseball Clinic

This program is for boys and girls 7106 years old and teaches the basic fundamentals of baseball. Designed to meet the developmental needs of children, this clinic of "coaches pitch" involves 8 weeks of clinics.  Clinics designed to introduce and improve on the fundamentals of throwing, fielding, and hitting.  There are no games or practices just clinics held on Saturday mornings at the Ott YMCA at 9am. Fees are $25 for Facility Members and $45 for Program Members.

Volunteer coaches are needed to help lead the clinics.

Tumble Tots

This class is for children ages 3-5 years old. They will learn the fundamentals of movement, tumbling, balance, strength and flexibility. This instructor led class teaches children the fundamentals of gymnastics and the YMCA character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Class size is limited.

Tumbling

This class is for children ages 6-10 years old. Beginning tumblers learn the fundamentals of movement, tumbling, balance, strength and flexibility. Intermediate tumblers expand their knowledge of basic gymnastics skills and improve their skills in tumbling, balance exercises, flexibility movements, body control and strength. Class size is limited.

Jujitsu

Jujitsu is the ancient art of self-defense. The techniques taught include escapes and countering various holds with throwing and joint manipulation. Karate

Originating in Okinawa, Shorinryu Karatedo is the original style that is the foundation of all modern Karate Systems. Techniques taught include blocking, punching and kicking with emphasis on evasive, defensive movements, and avoiding physical confrontation. This program is a non-contact activity. The Ott Family YMCA provides junior classes for ages 5-13 years old and senior classes for ages 13 to adult. *Uniform and testing fees are not included.* Registration is limited to 40 students.

Hip Hop & Jazz

This is going to be a fun environment for kids to learning the rhythmic styles of Hip Hop and Jazz dance.  Dance is a fantastic and fun way to gain a sense of discipline while getting a great workout.  Classes will begin with a general warm up and stretching followed by combinations of movements and fun routines.  Please come in clothes you will be able to move in.

 Digital Photography Class

Want to get the most out of your expensive digital camera? Then join us Wednesday nights for  a digital photography class taught by Francisco Medina and award winning news photographer for the Tucson Citizen.  This class will cover the basics of using your camera and teaches tips on how to get the best photographs possible in scenic and nature photos.  Bring in your own photos and Francisco will critique them and let you know how to get that "perfect shot".

Birthday Parties

Celebrate your special day at the YMCA pool and/or skate park. All party packages include party setup, table decorations, cake and punch of choice and use of the pool or skatepark. Packages are as follows:

Basic Package - Three hours of skating OR swimming for up to 10 people. $135

Super Package - Three hours of skating OR swimming for up to 20 people. $160

Ultimate Package - Three hours of skating OR swimming for up to 25 people. $185

 

 

Golf Lessons at 49er Country Club

 Intro to Golf

Join this small group of 10 or less beginner golfers for three 2 hour sessions that will cover putting, chipping, pitching, full swing irons, woods and a final class of Q & A, equipment and rules etiquette.  Classes will be held Saturdays from 10am – 12 noon from August 23rd – September 6th & October 11th – October 25th. Registration begins August 2nd. Ages 10 - adult. Fee for Facility Members is $80 per session and $100 per session for Program Members.

Intermediate Golf

This curriculum includes full swing, putting and short game review, course management, challenge shots and bunker shots over three 2 hour sessions. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 1-3pm from August 23rd – September 6th & November 15th – December 6th. (No Class 11/29). Registration begins August 2nd.  Ages 10 - adult. Fee for Facility Members is $80 per session and $100 per session for Program Members.

Swing Clinic

Need just a little bit of help to crack 100, 90 or 80? Then join this monthly 2- 1hour session swing clinic. This class concentrates on the part of the game that can help to shave strokes of your game. The clinic will go over swing fundamentals. Monthly clinics will be held from 9am-10am on August 20th & 27th, September 3rd & 10th, October 22nd & 29th, November 12th & 19th & December 10th & 17th. Registration begins the first of each month, and fee is for the two 1 hour clinics in each month. Ages 10 - Adult. Fee for Facility Members is $45 per month and $80 per month for Program Members.

Short Game Clinic

Need a little help with the scoring shots? This short game clinic covers fundamentals of putting, chipping, pitching and bunkers. These are the shots that take strokes off that score. Monthly clinics will be held from 9 – 10am on September 5th & 12th, October 24 & 31st and November 14th & 21st. Registration begins the first of each month, and fee is for the two 1 hour clinics in each month. Fee for Facility Members is $45 per month and $80 per month for Program Members.

 *Intro to Golf and Intermediate Classes: Range fee for all balls and clubs used for class (Not included in fee) is $35 paid at 1st day of class at 49er Country Club.

**Swing Clinic and Short Game Clinic: Range fee for all balls and clubs used for class (Not included in fee) is $10 paid at 1st day of class at 49er Country Club.

***All classes are taught by a PGA Professional. Shirt with collar and no denim are appreciated as golf attire at 49er.

Scrapbooking at the YMCA

Everyone is welcome to join us for our scrapbooking crop in the multipurpose room.  Each crop will include a "make and take".  Come share your passion for scraping with others.  Bring your own supplies, pictures, and a snack to share.  The Ott YMCA will provide the supplies for the "make and take".

Story Time at the YMCA

Introduce your child to a love of reading.  Each story time is an opportunity for children and their care givers to participate in activities to promote development and a love of books.  Join us every second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 10:30am in the multipurpose room.  Children will have the opportunity to create a craft after the story to take home.

Parent's Night Out

Here's your chance to enjoy a night out with family and friends....relax knowning your children are safe and having fun at the Ott Family YMCA. Activities will include pizza, movie, arts and crafts and outdoor play. Ages 3-12. Cost is $10 for the first child and $8 for each additional child.

Trainings

 

Adult, Child, Infant CPR, Standard First Aid & AED

Someone is choking, bleeding or is having a heart attack....could you save their life? Sign up and learn how. Two day classes will be held in the Multi Purpose Room on August 19 & 21, October 14 & 16 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm each night. There will also be a one day class held on December 6 from 9:00am-5:30pm. Fee for the certification is $45 for Facility Members and $55 for Program Members.

Babysitting Training

This American Red Cross babysitter's training course is to provide youth ages 11-14 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians.  This training helps participants to develop skills in leadership and professionalism, basic care, safety, safe play and first aid. Student will learn how to help in a choking emergency and to give rescue breathing until the EMS arrive. There will be two one-day clinics on September 6th & November 1 from 9:00am - 5:00pm, or a two day clinic on October 6 & 7 from 10:00am - 2:00pm each day. Fee for the class is $36 for Facility Members and $46 for Program Members.

 

 

 Class Cancellations

All classes that do not meet required enrollment numbers will be canceled. In the event this occurs, participants will be notified prior to the start date of the program  and a refund or credit will be issued. Please check with the Program Director for enrollment requirements as they vary from program to program.

Program Refund Policy

In the event you or your child is unable to participate in a program you may request a refund. As a general rule, no credits or refunds will be issued after the first game or class, and a $10 administrative fee may apply. Program Memberships are non-refundable.
