History

The Lohse Family YMCA is proud of its long history in the Tucson community. The 'Downtown' YMCA actually began in 1914 on the corner of Church and Congress and has continued to be a strength in the downtown area ever since. In 1953 the L.A. Lohse YMCA was opened at the corner of 6th Street and 5th Avenue.  It offered residence halls, an indoor pool and two gymnasiums.  That building sold in 1992 to another nonprofit organization that renovated it, and opened 'The Muse'.  The Lohse Family YMCA moved back into the center of downtown in 1992, opening our doors to businesses and neighborhood communities alike.

Our full service facility includes an indoor gymnasium, 3 strength/cardio centers, FitLinxx system, free weights, handball/racquetball courts, covered swimming pool, locker rooms, steam rooms, sauna, spa, aerobic studio, yoga studio, child watch and full day child care center.
