Upcoming Event February 17, 2008!

Hundreds of Tucsonans will participate in the 4rd Annual Lighthouse/City YMCA 5K Run/Walk & SilverSneakers 2 Mile Fun Walk on Sunday, February 17, 2008.  Both races will be open to runners and walkers of all levels and ages, dog walkers, wheelchair athletes, seniors, and baby joggers. This flat race course begins and ends at McCormick Park, next to the Lighthouse/City YMCA located at 2900 N. Columbus Blvd.  The run heads head north to the Rillito River, becoming a spacious soft dirt trail offering a scenic mountain run/walk. 

The 5K will start at 8:00 AM and the SilverSneakers 2 Mile fun walk will start approximately 5 minutes later.  Channel 13 Sports Anchor Damien Alameda will start our races this year.

All proceeds go towards the YMCA's Changing Lives campaign; geared towards funding scholarships to serve Tucson youth and families. Based on available resources, your YMCA’s practice is that no child is ever turned down due to inability to pay a program fee. 

The race offeres free daycare, 200 yd kid fun run, food and drinks from local vendors, live music, a rock wall to climb, shuttles to the start/finish line area, and lots of raffle prize giveaways.  Come out and compete or enjoy the fun and cheer on the competitors.
