Tee Ball

 

YMCA Tee Ball Rules

1. A team consists of 10 players will all players on the field at a time.  Each position will be covered with an additional short stop and outfielders.

2. Equipment consists of soft teeballs, teeball bats and a heavy batting tee. Provided by YMCA. Gloves not included.

3. No metal cleats of any kind.

4. Bases are approximately 45 feet apart.

5. Regulation games are 50 minutes long.

6. Both teams are responsible for bringing their equipment to the game to share. (if needed).

7. An inning consists of all players on a team batting once, rather than the 3 outs rule. The last batter will be the clean up batter and will run all the bases.

8. Coaches are encouraged to change the batting lineup to give everyone a chance to bat first and last.

9. Each player should have the opportunity to play every position during the season.

10. The ball is not pitched but hit off a tee located inline with home plate.

11. Batters may only advance 1 base at a time.

12. Batters are not permitted to bunt.

13. A 10' arc shall be drawn in front of home-plate and a ball must be hit outside of the arc before it is playable.

14. A player, who throws the bat after hitting the ball, will be benched and no base runners may advance.

15. Players are not permitted to steal or lead off bases.

16. There is no infield fly rule.

17. Base runners may not advance on over-throws any time the ball leaves the infield playing area, even if it remains in fair territory in the outfield.

18. Infielders must play an minimum 35 ft away from home plate.

19. One volunteer coach and 2 volunteer parents of the defensive team are permitted to be in the field area. At no time are they permitted to participate in the play.

20. Coaches and parents of the offensive team may position themselves as first and third base coaches and may assist the batter.  Only one coach may be located at each of the above positions.  At no time may the offensive coach enter the field of play during the game.

21. Coaches will umpire and work towards agreeing on all game decisions.
