Membership Director
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Membership Director is the primary point of contact to manage the daily operations of the membership department, including all member service desk operations, membership development, retention, community events and front-of-the-house operations. This position is responsible for supervision of front-line member service staff, engagement with members and prospective members, facility tours, membership sales, retention activities, and membership data. The Membership Director will develop budgets and is the lead team member responsible for meeting sales and retention goals. The Director will be responsible for managing the department budget and taking appropriate action as necessary to correct variances, ensuring proper implementation of YMCA policies and procedures, and communicating promotions and changes to department staff. The Membership Director will be organizing and implementing YMCA events to promote enrollment in conjunction with the corporate Administrative/Marketing Director. The Director will also be responsible for playing a key role in the Annual Support Campaign by working with the Corporate Financial Development Department and will be required to attend and participate in staff meetings as a YMCA professional.
Minimum qualifications will include the incumbent possessing a 4 year degree in business, sales, or a related field with at least 2 year’s supervisory experience in customer service or a related field. Additional qualifications include demonstrating excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software (Word, Excel, E-mail), the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. The ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is a preferred qualification.

The Director should have a love for providing outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external contacts. A basic understanding of the nature of the YMCA as a non-profit and membership organization, understanding of programs associated with membership, knowledge in member enrollment and marketing is necessary. This is a full-time, exempt position not limited to 40 hours a week. Position is anticipated to begin in mid March. Benefits will begin on the 1st of the month following 3 months of full-time employment. Special Projects Aquatics Coordinator
Join the YMCA of Southern Arizona aquatics team as a special projects coordinator to roll out the All Kids Swim program in 2012. We are seeking an organized, detail oriented individual to join our team in this temporary position from March –August to reach out to the local community to promote the importance of learning how to swim and how the YMCA can make a difference. The aquatics special project coordinator will be expected to join the safe kids coalition and to participate in other community events centered around aquatic safety. The coordinator will need to work with non YMCA facility managers and supervisors to coordinate using their pools for All Kids Swim and to support and market our efforts to share this community benefit with schools, parents, and other organizations. The special projects coordinator will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff on our aquatics team in addition to assisting with the program budget to ensure funds are used in a fiscally responsible manner. Duties will also include setting up and holding registrations at each pool location in addition to leading a staff team to prepare each pool for usage for the duration of the program. Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years aquatics experience. Applicants must also possess current YMCA, Red Cross, or other lifeguard certificate, current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certificate or equivalents covering CPR for adults, children and infants and AED use, and YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or other comparable certification. The coordinator will need to follow staff and participant safety guidelines to ensure a quality program. A 4 year college degree is preferred.
This is a temporary, hourly paid position of approximately 35-40 hours/week depending on the needs of the program and will run from March-August. This is a non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime pay for hours worked each week in excess of 40 hours.

Wellness Instructor/Personal Trainer
The Lohse Family YMCA is seeking an individual to educate and assist members with exercise equipment, and demonstrate proper exercise techniques to keep them safe and motivated as they use our facility.
